Two members of the Central Michigan University Equestrian Team share their experience with the sport. Specifically, they answer three questions about how they got into Equestrian, what their favorite part of the sport is, and what the most difficult part of the sport for them is. Both Jenna Hubert and Samantha Snider have been riding for at least 15 years. They enjoy having the opportunity to ride so many different horses during their competitions. In the program here at CMU, the riders draw a horse before the competition but still are expected to perform well with whatever horse they get. Both members mentioned that it is a little stressful to get no practice time with the horse because you are still expected to perform well in your class, but they love getting to work with the variety of different horses. They mentioned how they enjoy getting to see how the different horses behave, and it gives them ideas on how to train their own horses. A big part of the sport is to make sure you look good. Riders are judged on their composure and posture while they are on the horses as well as how they handle the horse.

While I was filming this video, I had to go into midland to their event. When I was talking to the team about filming them for this project, they agreed but had mentioned that their practices are usually an hour or two away from campus but when she mentioned that they had a competition coming up in Midland, I made sure that I could attend it (even though it meant waiting until the Sunday of spring break to go home). While I was at the event, there was a very limited amount of space that I could be in to record because they wanted me completely out of the way of spectators, so this resulted in a lot of my footage being from the same angle or area, but I think I did good considering the space I was able to be in. In the interview, there was a decent amount of background noise that I ended up needing to cut out because the quietest place was in the barn that they kept the horses, which was not very quiet at all. I did enjoy going to the event to film this though because this was the first time I had gone to an equestrian competition so it was cool to learn something new through this video.
